We have all heard the phrase “right tool for the job”.  It can mean different things to different people depending on what problem they are trying to solve or work their way through.  When I had my knee surgeries, yes I said surgeries, plural, because I have had 3, I had a few problems to work through. One of my biggest challenges was getting my knee to move the way it was supposed to after surgery and then being able to walk without looking like a drunk pirate.  I lived in a small town and did not have ready access to a gym, my surgeon or a physical therapist. All of these things were over an hour away from me. I was given instructions and had to do my rehab on my own. I checked in with my therapist weekly in the clinic to make sure I was on track.  All my therapist gave me was a sheet of exercises and an encouraging “now go do it”. I realized quickly that I didn’t really have a good tool to help me get my knee moving as quickly as I wanted it to get moving. I mean I had things to do and wanted to get back to my life as quickly as I could.  I thought about having the right tool for the job because my grandpa always told me to work smarter not harder. These experiences of being a patient and wanting to work smarter helped me to design a better tool for getting back to life faster after knee surgery. The GoKnee was born to do just that, help you get better faster so that you can do what you want to be doing and not dealing with problems like “I’m 10 weeks out of surgery and my knee only bends to 90 degrees and doesn’t straighten all the way and man it hurts so bad still.  Is this supposed to happen”? Another favorite saying of my grandpa was “the definition of insanity is to keep doing things the same way and expecting a different result”. I feel this way about how people approach their rehab after knee surgery. If you want a different result that what “most” people are getting then do something different than those people are doing.
