Have you prepared your home for your upcoming knee replacement?
January 21, 2020

Make sure you take the time to prepare your home before surgery. Since you will likely be using a walker initially, you should take up any unsecured rugs and other tripping hazards, such as cords. You may need a grab bar installed, an elevated toilet seat and/or a shower bench/seat in your bathroom. You may want to consider setting up a first-floor or main level living and sleeping area, to avoid doing stairs initially (not that you can’t do stairs, just that you probably won’t want to do them!) You may need a bedside table to increase your ease with reaching for your essentials (e.g. pain medications, trash can, tissues, drink, snack, remote). Doing these few things will improve safety and comfort once you are home.
